Eligibility Criteria at a Glance
1. Are you a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident?
2. Does one of the following three employment/residency categories apply to your circumstances:
- Canmore permanent full-time employee (30+ hrs/week for at least six months)
- Canmore resident for the past year AND be currently employed for or self-employed as a licensed business located in Canmore, or a retiree with five years Canmore work experience
- Long-term Canmore resident (currently residing and have been resident for at least 5 cumulative years since the age of 15)
- Was your gross household income $118,000 or less in the previous tax year (line 150 of CRA Tax Notice of Assessment)?
4. Are your net household assets $100,000 or less (excluding registered retirement and education savings plans)?
If you answered "yes" to each of the questions above, then you likely meet the eligibility criteria to purchase PAH, pending availability of units and your ability to get mortgage financing.
If you answered "no" to question 3 or 4, you may still qualify. A variance to the income and asset criteria may be allowed if the combination of your income and net assets means that you are still in need of affordable housing. For example, if you received an inheritance or property settlement, but your income is low limiting the amount of a mortgage you can qualify for, then you may be eligible.
